Sylar night, Scary night
Heroes quake at the sight
He will try to take your brain...
And cause you intense pain
You are the Bomb!
You are the Bomb!

Peter Petrelli awoke up gasping for air. He looked over to his alarm clock. It was 2:58 AM, Christmas Morning.

He stared at the ceiling, pushing all the memories from the last few weeks out of his mind.

It has been nearly two months but the events that happened on Election day would haunt him forever.

"How fast do you think we can fly?"

Nathan.

He was ready to sacrifice himself to save him, to save New York, to save the world.

"I’m sorry."

Claire.

She knew how hard this would be for him.

I’m not the bad guy. I’m not a villain. I am the hero.

"You’re my Hero."

Heroes don’t allow their brothers to die.

"If you carry me away, could you fly fast enough to save yourself?"

"Pete. You told me I never tried to used my powers for something good. This is my attempt. This is my chance to do something real."

Peter shook his head.

"No. You saved that girl."

"Hmm?"

"The one in the burning building."

"You knew about that?"

"No, but something just told me now."

Nathan caressed Peter’s cheek.

"How fast do you think we can fly?"

Be the one we need.

Peter traced the scar below his right eye. The one he kept for memory.

"I guess I do look a little different with this scar," Peter whispered.

The epic battle flashed in front of his eyes.

He remembered the pain at the pit of his stomach when he saw the news report Halloween night that Ted Sprague was dead. Another victim of Sylar. He knew this meant that Sylar now acquired this ability.

And it was only a week before Nathan’s election.

Peter was tempted to tell his brother to back out of the election, he wanted to believe that if he stopped the election he would save his brother. It was hopeless. It was a joke. To pull out of the election would be weak, it would be damaging, and in all possible excuses, entirely mad. He now started to understand how Nathan must have felt went he told him that he was going to save a cheerleader, and to save the world. The fear that imprisoned his brother when he saw Isaac’s painting, and the look of helplessness that Ando had when he called out to him at Homecoming.

Helplessness is evil.

And they cling to me, appealing from their fathers. This boy is Ignorance. This girl is Want. Beware them both, and all of their degree, but most of all beware this boy, for on his brow I see that written which is Doom, unless the writing be erased. Deny it.

Peter looked up to see one of the one hundred thousand Christmas Carols on the television.

He must have fell asleep with it on.

Peter jumped, were his eyes deceiving him or did he see his brother Nathan dressed up as Scrooge, and Jessica Sanders as the Ghost of Christmas Present?

He closed his eyes tightly.

It was just a bad dream, a dream in a dream of a dream.

The End
